I do not like to run in the morning. I have such a hard time getting out of bed and forcing myself out into the dark. I do it, not often, but I am able to get it done when needed. I just really hate it.
One thing that I love to do is running a race in the morning. There is nothing better than that feeling of getting up, getting the coffee ready and having a peanut butter and banana sandwich. The jitters, the excitement, the prep are all the right feelings to have in the morning. I haven’t raced since July, and I am both said and happy about it. Sometimes you just need a break, but FOMO hits every weekend when I see all the racing pictures on Instagram.
After my PR in July, I tried to get back into training with the hopes of running a half marathon in the Fall. Injuries, time constraints and a lack of desire to run really set me back. I didn’t even want to go out for a run. I was stuck. It took me about six weeks to be able to fall back in love with running. I guess it was a break that was needed, because things are on the up and up.
I am excited to get back to running races and the first one that is coming up if the Minneapolis Turkey Day 5K. The race is presented by Life Time and they do such an amazing job with it. There is so much excitement around this race. Everyone is pumped to be able to get a nice workout in before Thanksgiving festivities. It is super family friendly. And it has some great views and activities.
The race runs through downtown Minneapolis. There are family friendly activities and tents setup for before and after the race. So many parents and kids run this race together. I am so excited to get a crew together and run this race with me.
