Do Recovery Right

20180821 - OOFOS FIBRE Shoe

For many the day after a race or a hard workout is filled with muscle soreness, pain, and desire to completely get off your feet. Let me tell you, you are doing it wrong. Some of the major ways to increase your recovery is to keep moving, throw in a light cross-workout, and use equipment that will help the process.


To continue to increase my arsenal of recovery equipment, I was able to get the BRAND NEW men’s OOFOS OOMG FIBRE to test out. I was super stoked about these recovery shoes because:

  1. I run a lot and constantly have something hurting or aching.
  2. I play beach volleyball which has me moving in all sorts of directions, wearing out my other leg muscles.
  3. I stand at work and need a comfortable shoe.


I tested these shoes in three scenarios, wearing them around the house, wearing them outside, and standing in them for long periods of time. Obviously, this is just my thoughts, but I know for a fact that I am not the only one that has tried these shoes. OOFOS shoes and sandals have a patented OOfoam technology that absorbs more of the impact as you walk then standard running shoe foam. They are designed to provide a relief for your feet and allow your legs to recover.

I loved wearing these shoes in my apartment. I am constantly cooking, doing a workout, or just walking around my apartment. I wore these all the time. They are extremely comfortable and easy to slip on and off. The fabric is breathable, so it was nice when it got really hot in the apartment.


I wore these shoes to and from my workouts and to my volleyball games. I really liked the fact that they can easily be washed out or thrown in the laundry. When they got dirty with sand from my volleyball games, I was able to just run them under water and clean them off.


For half of the day I am standing at my desk at work (stand-up desk perk). It is so good for you to stand as much as possible, but my feet usually hurt. With OOFOS OMG FIBRE shoes I can stand longer without pain. I usually slip off my shoes and slip on the OOFOS when I am standing for a long period of time.


This would be a bad review if I didn’t have anything to caution or complain about. My biggest issue is that these are not something that I would really wear in public. They are extremely comfortable, and they make my legs feel like new, but the design is not something that fits my style. I customize everything, so I added green Brilliant Reflective Strips which makes them look a little better.

Other than that, I see myself using these shoes more and more as we get into the Fall racing season. What do you use for speeding up or helping your recovery?
