Thanksgiving is a time when friends and family gather to celebrate whatever they feel thankful for. The day is filled with people, food, drinks, football, and probably more food. There is a solution to all the feasting though. There is a way to stay healthy during Thanksgiving. I am not talking about all the walking that you do during the evening shopping spree. I am talking about getting up and running bright and early.
Running a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is the best way to invite and introduce a bit of healthy into your day. I will be running the Minneapolis Turkey Day 5K. I can pretty much guarantee that there is a race somewhere near you on Thursday the 23rd. It is easy to find a way to make an excuse to have another piece of pie while your favorite team is marching down the field to score a TD. Avoid making an excuse to eat or drink more and make an excuse to wake up early and go run.
Obviously, I am a runner and I love to run so for me to run a 5K is not that big of a deal. Well it will be. The night before will be a night of celebrating a friends birthday, so for me the 23rd is a way for me to discipline myself.
